Good riddance to bad baggage

Demoralized Republicans adjourned the 109th Congress at 5 a.m. yesterday with a near-empty Capitol, closing the door on a dozen years of nearly unbroken GOP control by spending more time in the final days lamenting their failures -- to rein in government, tame the deficit and temper their own lust for power -- than reliving their successes.

Failed to "rein in government?" My God, the GOP unleashed big government in all its brutish, bloody glory: hunting down a popular Democratic president, launching a criminal war because they could, and tearing at the very fabric of American democracy. They couldn't "tame the deficit"? They retook the White House in 2000 with a budget surplus, only to squander it and then plunge the nation deep into the red again with tax cuts for those who needed them least and out of control spending.

Even in defeat, the GOP dick must be sucked. Just make sure you get the blue dress cleaned this time, guys.
