Ministry of Truthiness

AKA the Pentagon.

WE are the principal threat to Iraqis, asshole - just ask the 1,000,000 or so who have died as a result of the chaos we've unleashed. And this "al Qaeda in Iraq" dodge is nothing but transparent propaganda, an attempt to provide retroactive justification for our invasion by linking a group that didn't exist on 9/11/2001 - a group we "fathered" through our brutish occupation of their country- to the WTC and Pentagon attacks.

In Vietnam, the rule was, "If it's dead and it's a Gook, it's VC."

In Vietnam Redux (viz. Iraq), the rule now is, "If it's dead and it's a Hajii, it's 'al Qaeda in Iraq'."

Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose.

U.S. Military Calls Al-Qaeda in Iraq 'Principal Threat' - washingtonpost.com
Calling al-Qaeda in Iraq "the principal threat" to Iraqis, Brig. Gen. Kevin J. Bergner, the chief U.S. military spokesman, said the group was the main focus of the U.S. security campaign. Like other U.S. officials in recent weeks, Bergner stressed that al-Qaeda in Iraq is supported by the organization led by Osama bin Laden and his deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri, an assertion that intelligence analysts have disputed.
