When

Will we wake up
Rub the sleep from our eyes
And realize
It wasn't all a bad dream?

When

Will we look
Outside ourselves
And see the crimes
We perpetrated?

Maybe our hand
Was not directly to blame
But we voted, yes?
And so endorsed the criminals

Maybe our eyes
Were blind to tragedy
But others saw
And did nothing anyway?

Others WE chose
Others WE approved
Others WE selected
And elected
To run this country
Into the ground.
