Confirmation Blues

Alito Sworn In as Supreme Court Justice
Samuel A. Alito Jr., who was confirmed by the Senate on a 58-42 vote this morning, was quickly sworn in as an associate justice of the Supreme Court today, completing a makeover that the Bush administration hopes will turn the nation's highest court in a more conservative direction.
Here are the Democratic Quislings:

Byrd, W.Va. (very disappointing...)
Conrad, N.D.
Johnson, S.D.
Nelson, Neb.

Jeffords voted no as expected, and Chafee (as discussed in an earlier post) was let off-leash briefly to re-establish his moderate bona-fides in order to bamboozle Rhode Island Democrats into voting for him again next election. So-called moderate Specter (who also bamboozled Dems into re-electing him in 2004) voted yes.
