Bush: Hamas Must Alter Stance on Israel to Be 'Partner in Peace'

President Bush today said elections in the Palestinian territories delivered a needed "wakeup call to the leadership" there, but he warned that the apparent winners -- the militant Hamas movement -- cannot be a "partner in peace" if they continue to advocate the destruction of Israel.

While I agree that Hamas must accept the legitimacy of Israel, I cannot help but wonder how "crusader" Bush finds it possible to muster the chutzpah to lecture Hamas on peace.
