Shape-Shifting Specter

When I was manning phones doing polling for the Kerry campaign in 2004, one of the poll questions we asked folks was whether they intended to vote for Hoeffel or Specter. The call list, mind you, consisted exclusively of registered Democrats. Disappointingly, the majority of those contacted said they intended to vote for Specter because he was a moderate, unlike those "other" Republicans.
