Proof by Assertion

One more time, Dubya says, "Just trust me." Well, George, as you yourself said so eloquently,
"There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again."
Bush Reasserts Ports Deal Poses No Threat
Bush administration officials struggled today to convince critics that America's national security would not be jeopardized if a state-controlled company from the United Arab Emirates takes over operations at six major U.S. ports.

Senior administration officials from the Departments of Defense, State, Treasury and Homeland Security testified before a hastily-called congressional committee, saying that the deal was reviewed for months with no objections raised from any government agency involved.

President Bush personally insisted the deal posed no security risk to the United States at a Cabinet meeting. And senior White House aide Karl Rove said in a radio interview that scuttling the deal involving an ally as loyal as the United Arab Emirates constituted a "slap" from the United States.
He personally insisted a deal he knew nothing about until a few days ago wouldn't compromise security. And we're expected to believe him. Do we now have "faith-based national security" to worry about?
