Faith-Based Insecurity

Angels and ministers of grace defend us! DHS can't secure a popsicle stand, but they need to devote their nearly non-existent resources to buying votes. That, in reality, is what Dubya's "faith-based" initiatives are all about. He couldn't give a rat's ass about the people in the communities that "benefit" from faith-based funds, but he cares about their votes. Case in point: Exodus Baptist Church in North Philadelphia, home of "Justice Sunday III," where Pastor Herbert Lusk netted a cool million in faith-based funds for leading his flock to the right.

Bush Orders DHS to Create Center for Faith-Based Aid

President Bush ordered the Department of Homeland Security yesterday to create a center for faith-based and community initiatives within 45 days to eliminate regulatory, contracting and programmatic barriers to providing federal funds to religious groups to deliver social services, the White House announced last night.
