Proof by Assertion

Emphasis on the "ass". The circular reasoning of jerks like Hannity (circle-jerk reasoning?) on Gitmo detainees--and on everything else--is dizzyingly absurd. "You bleeding hearts want to give these terrorists lawyers?" Yet we have no real way of knowing, do we, who is and isn't a terrorist given that 1) no formal charges have been presented and 2) no one has had the right to defend themselves against the non-existent charges. Furthermore, the DoJ (as Alan Colmes correctly observed) has itself admitted that some detainees should never have been detained to begin with. So Hannity is dead wrong. But truth doesn't matter to the True Believer, particularly when admitting the truth means losing a great gig on a major cable TV network. Where else but Fucks News could a third-rate intellect like Hannity find a job as a pundit?

Media Matters - Hannity's dubious assertion: "There's nobody at Guantanamo Bay" being detained "for nothing"
COLMES: Right. But he's not a terrorist, as you suggest.

HANNITY: Hang on. There's nobody at Guantánamo that's there for no good reason.

COLMES: That's not what the Justice Department says.

HANNITY: Excuse me. Do you mind? There's nobody at Guantánamo Bay that's there for nothing. I want to talk about this guy. Not only is he a spokesman for the Taliban, he's an apologist for the Taliban. He made excuses for the Taliban, one of the worst, most brutal regimes in the last hundred years of human history. Isn't it true?
