Desperate Times...

...call for desperate measures. Seeing his once-solid base disintegrating, Bush will finally eat Jim Crow and address the NAACP, no doubt hoping that his toss-off photo op with dark-skinned folks will wipe the bitter memory of Katrina* from the minds of African-American voters. I hope the delegates boo his sorry fake cowboy ass all the way back to Crawford.

President to Address NAACP Tomorrow

After six years in office, President Bush has agreed to address the NAACP at its annual national convention in Washington, the White House announced yesterday.

White House spokesman Tony Snow said the president will appear before the nation's oldest and largest civil rights group tomorrow after years of trading rhetorical jabs with its leadership.

* And the 2000 vote. And the 2004 vote. And "No Child Left Behind." And opposition to the Voting Rights Act. And opposition to affirmative action. And the incredible whiteness of being Republican.
