Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich says America is in World War III and President Bush should say so.

For those of my (aging) generation (same generation as Newt's), mention of WWIII always conjured up images of nuclear holocaust and the end of the world. Is this what Salamander Gingrich is advocating? I find it hard to believe that a cusp-boomer like Gingrich is unaware of the connotations.
