Congressional Quislings

This Dolchstoss is for real.

Democrats Stab MoveOn in the Back
Memo to Democrats: you control the Congress. That means you can decide what bills come to the floor for votes--and what don't. So WHY, in a week where Republicans blocked the restoration of habeas corpus, voting rights for DC and adequate rest time for our troops between deployments, did you allow Republicans the opportunity to score a cheap PR stunt by approving a resolution condemning a week-old newspaper ad by Moveon.org--on the same day Republicans once again voted to keep indefinitely continuing the Iraq war?!
Postcript: There is no rationally acceptable explanation for your egregious betrayal of them what put your chickenshit asses in them seats in the first place. It is the political equivalent of pulling your goalie at the last second of overtime for the express purpose of allowing your opponent to score the winning goal. What the fuck were you thinking, if you were in fact thinking at all? Is it any wonder that so many Americans have no respect for Democrats? Is it any wonder that more Republicans approve of the Democratically controlled Congress than do Democrats or Independents?!? Like whipped curs, you keep crawling back to your Republican masters, eager for another beating. Is this what we voted for? Is this what we worked our asses off for? To see a detested and lame-duck president continue the implementation of his rejected, destructive agenda? To watch you assent to the dismantling of what little is left of our democracy?

To wax Shakespearian, all of your investigations, subpoenas, and threats of contempt charges have amounted to little more than "a walking Shadow, a poor Player That struts and frets [its] Hour upon the Stage, And then is heard no more; It is a tall Tale, Told by an Idiot, full of Sound and Fury, Signifying nothing." In fact, "if this were played upon a stage now, I could condemn it as an improbable fiction;" unfortunately, it is a reality far stranger than fiction.

This isn't to say that there aren't some among you who sincerely seek to change the nation's course from a race toward oblivion to a hard slog back to sanity; that said, your efforts have been nullified by your opportunistic, triangulating colleagues and their collusion with the lickspittle GOP.

So the question is: do you have the courage of your professed convictions, or did you have none to begin with?

I won't hold my breath waiting for the answer.
