Lessee... what event of note happened in 2000? We elected a president, didn't we? Or tried to... What was his name, the guy the Supreme Court finally installed? George something... Bush, was it? You think he might have something to do with this?

The main reason: spiraling health-care costs have been whacking away at their wages. Even though workers are producing more, inflation-adjusted median family income has dipped 2.6 percent -- or nearly $1,000 annually since 2000.
