But will it make any damn difference?

Yes, the Troopergate report will no doubt find that Sarah Palin abused executive power (what else is new?) and will recommend some nominal knuckle-rapping and a few "Hail Mary"s. But issues don't matter, right? Unfortunately, that's right for far too many voters. This is why it's so important for the Obama campaign to - on occasion at least - bypass the neocortex and limbic system and go straight for the lizard brain, where far too many important decisions get made by far too many people. I jest to some extent, but we need to attack McCain-Palin in a way that grabs people emotionally, not just intellectually. We may (rightly) decry the blantant exploitation of sacred memories by the GOP in showing footage of the 9-11 attacks at the RNC, but it undoubtedly connected with many viewers who didn't take it that way at all.

My point isn't that we need to emulate the GOP, but that we need to deal with the unfortunate fact that many undecideds will make their decision not with their brain but with their gut.

ABC News: Investigation into Palin Now on Fast Track
ABC News has exclusively learned that Alaska Senator Hollis French will announce today that he is moving up the release date of his investigation into whether Gov. Sarah Palin abused her office to get the Alaska public safety commissioner, Walt Monegan, fired. The results of the investigation were originally scheduled for release Oct. 31 but will now come almost three weeks earlier, according to sources.
