There oughta be limits to freedom...
Thus spake our preznit once't upon a time. He only said this, though, 'cause he wants to protect us from evildoers like the diminutive Wen Yi Wang, who had the audacity to take Bush seriously when he spoke about the importance of free speech in China just before her outburst. Dammit, woman! Didn't you hear? He said free speech in China, not the USA!
Protester Who Disrupted Hu's White House Speech Released
The protester who disrupted a welcoming ceremony for the Chinese president at the White House yesterday was released on personal recognizance this afternoon, but told to go nowhere near the White House.Yes, this crazed terrorist spoke the following terrible terroristic words, words that still chill us to the bone with terror: "Stop oppressing the Falun Gong!" Clearly her intent was to destroy diplomatic relations between the US and China, leading ultimately to global thermonuclear war. Or something. In any case, she not only embarassed the Chinese preznit but also our glorious leader as well. And that, as Joe Wilson knows, is an unpardonable sin.
Wen Yi Wang, 47, of New York, appeared today in U.S. District Court in Washington after being held overnight. She was charged with willfully intimidating, coercing, threatening and harassing a foreign official, a misdemeanor that could net her up to 6 months in jail. The judge told her to return to court on May 3.
UPDATE: Ms. Wen Yi Wang apparently said a few things in Mandarin that were a bit less innocuous than the quote above (amounting to something akin to "what goes around comes around"). Still, hardly cause for a night in the hoosegow and a possible 6-month sentence.
