America the Missing

Has anyone seen America?
I can't find it anywhere.
Not in government.
Not on television.
Not in my neighborhood.
Yes, there are plenty of flags
and ribbons
The Star Spangled Banner
is still sung
before "play ball!"
But the words ring hollow
There is no joy in Mudville.
Only anger
and hate
and arrogance.
The blood of those
who gave all they had
for freedom
is disgraced
dishonored.
Can you point me to America?
Its moral compass is no longer true
and I find myself lost
No map can help
The land is still there
but the soul
where did it go?
Did it run away
or was it stolen?
Please
Help me find America
Help us all return home.
