New Books Aim To Unweave the Obama Narrative - washingtonpost.com

Corsi's "The Obama Nation" lacks major revelations and has been dismissed by Obama's campaign as a series of lies from a serial liar. Parts of the book have also been disproved by the mainstream media. In 2004, Corsi co-wrote "Unfit for Command," in which Swift boat veterans criticized Sen. John F. Kerry's Vietnam War record. That book was also widely disproved.

So why is the mainstream media promoting an admittedly dishonest piece of tendentious trash penned by a proven liar with a partisan agenda - in the middle of a critical presidential campaign? Good question.

Nevertheless, Corsi's book about Obama will debut as a No. 1 New York Times bestseller and threatens the candidate where he could be vulnerable. Ever since Obama introduced himself at the 2004 Democratic convention as the "unlikely" son of a Kenyan goat herder and a white woman from Kansas, he forever married his background to his political future. Corsi and other conservative authors hope that by diminishing one, they can destroy the other.

Let's recap: The Post admits that Corsi's book says nothing new and is inaccurate at best and that Corsi clearly has an ideological axe to grind. Nevertheless, they give him and his screed page A1 attention! We have here a particularly egregious example of the self-reinforcing, destructive, dishonest closed-loop process by which our so-called "liberal" media works (unwittingly in some cases) to destroy Democratic politicians: lying right-wing operative smears Democrat with outrageous, easily disproved fabrications; mainstream media outlets nonetheless pounce and pimp endlessly; mainstream media outlets then point to pouncing and pimping as proof that story "is important"; story is flogged all the harder...

In a sane world, Corsi and his ilk would be forced to self-publish and would get a hearing only at Klan and John Birch society meetings. Welcome to the nuthouse.
